Mick Heffernan

We managed to pin down the soul globe-trotter and in demand DJ - Mick H for a brief chat before his debut at our Fifth anniversary special. It seems like no European soul weekender would be complete without this mans name on the bill so we're delighted to have him down in our little basement venue.

Where are you from?

Nottingham UK.

What / when was your first experience of soul music?

I first got into soul music aged 11 at Santa Fe youth club with early James Brown, I then progressed on to the Northern scene in 74

How long have you been DJing?

I've been djing since 1976

What are some of the most memorable nights / clubs you've been to and why.

My most memorable night is Lizzys in Manhattan, New York and most memorable club is the 100 club.

You've been promoting soul nights for decades, tell us a little about your most recent nights you've been promoting.

I've promoted the former famous Lifeline All-nighter and today I promote the boat nighter in Nottingham.

What three records never leave your box?

You're an in demand DJ and seem to be on any night / weekender worth it's salt, aside from Pow City, where's next on the hit list?

I'm mostly djing in Europe these days but in 2019 you'll see me over in Sweden, Denmark, Germany , Italy , Prague , Spain and of course I'm looking forward to Pow City.
